Over Pentecost, the New Heidenheim Chamber Choir went on a major 17-day concert tour through South Africa with 65 young singers.
The choir actually wanted to make this trip in 2020. At that time, the entire trip was planned, but the outbreak of the pandemic changed everything...
In 2022, the youth choir of the Schiller-Gymnasium tried a second attempt, but due to the enormous increase in airfares, the trip failed again.
This year the NKC was finally able to accept the invitation from the University of Pretoria Youth Choir and make the trip.
On the very first day, the competition-experienced choir managed to impress the jury at the Eisteddfod in Stellenbosch in the Chamber Choir and Mixed Choir categories.
The Eisteddfod is a competition held in many cities across South Africa, with over 30 choirs taking part in Stellenbosch that day.
In this choir-loving country, the Neue Kammerchor Heidenheim achieved the highest award “Cum Laude” in both categories, which is even better than gold!
In summary, the choir's performance was praised as "electrifying in every sense" .
